Inspiring Young Artists This Fall with The Artists’ Letters – A Creative Curriculum for Elementary Learners
As we prepare for a new school year, there’s nothing more exciting than discovering a resource that brings together creativity, critical thinking, and cross-curricular connections. I’m thrilled to introduce my newest curriculum, The Artists’ Letters, just launching in my shop!
This unique art resource is designed especially for elementary students and is perfect for both classroom teachers and homeschool families. The Artists’ Letters introduces students to 10 famous artists—from Claude Monet to Clementine Hunter—through imaginative, first-person letters written as if the artists are speaking directly to the child (Sample letter here). These engaging letters make each artist feel personal and relatable, opening the door for deeper exploration of their lives and work.
But this curriculum doesn’t stop at art appreciation. Each letter is paired with a hands-on art project inspired by the artist’s style or a featured piece. Students are invited to create meaningful projects that not only reinforce the elements of art but also incorporate reading comprehension, history, and seasonal themes. Whether you're covering a few artists or diving into all ten, you can easily customize this curriculum to fit your schedule and students’ needs.
What makes this resource truly special is how it weaves storytelling into the process of learning art. Kids aren’t just hearing facts—they’re stepping into the shoes of the artists, imagining what it felt like to paint a masterpiece or see the world through creative eyes.
If you’re looking for a flexible, engaging, and integrated way to teach art this fall, The Artists’ Letters will be a fantastic addition to your teaching toolbox. It’s a joyful way to celebrate creativity, build artistic confidence, and connect students to the beauty and meaning of art.
